If you have ever traveled to a big city before, it can be super overwhelming, especially in a foreign city where people don't speak your native language. Below are the best tips that I wish I had known when I moved here.
Sortiraparis.com : This is one of the best websites! I found this site awhile ago and I use it to browse up and coming events in the Ile-de-France area (Paris and surrounding suburbs). The website is translated in French and English, and always has guides and new articles for everyone's tastes, including music, art, food, and other categories specifically for French culture. For example, they include bakeries known for chocolate, which is pertinent because it is Easter weekend!
2. the metro : Obviously you have to be in Paris for this, but if you don't mind taking the metro, I think that this is a great way to keep an eye out for new museums, advertisements for shows, beautiful castles to see, etc. I have seen some advertisements for pools, visiting castles in the Loire valley, and even French comedians or singers coming to Paris. The posters are pretty big so they catch your eye and they often have a lot of information, with the name clearly written and the website for more information.
3. feverup.com : this is a great site, like sortiraparis.com, to discover some cool and unique events in Paris. What I've seen recently is candlelight concerts, new exhibitions, neon brush by night, etc. The site pops visually and it's an interesting way to see some events for young people. However, they have loads of different categories, everything from tastings to courses, workshops, etc.
4. google search : and of course, the classic google search! If you type "events in Paris" for specific topics and/or dates, you will have a variety of websites pop up. This is really helpful if you want to have some diverse choices for your information.
5. Facebook : If you look, you can find different types of events on Facebook depending on the season. The events range from festivals and concerts, to vintage markets (which seem to be really popular right now). There are also advertised events, but it's good to look at reviews or ask friends about these, because the experiences vary.
These are all websites and places that I have personally used, and find really practical to search for up-to-date information about Paris. I hope that you find them useful!
